Bromination

Our Knowsley site offers some of the most modern and flexible bromination facilities available today. State-of-the-art bulk bromine storage and handling facilities enable Contract Chemicals to offer an extensive range of speciality organobromine compounds. With approximately 100m3 of dedicated bromination capacity, including a 25m3 vessel, we are well equipped to supply all requirements from kilos to hundreds of tonnes.

Friedel-Crafts

The substitution of aromatic compounds using acid chlorides, alkyl halides or olefins via Friedel-Crafts chemistry has traditionally generated high levels of waste and often requires the use of a chlorinated solvent. Our novel Envirocat™ catalysts offer an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional techniques.

Thionyl Chloride

Acid and alkyl chlorides can be produced via alkylation and acetylation reactions in multi-purpose glass lined vessels ranging from 2,250 to 12,000 litres. Modern reaction and scrubbing facilities allow the independent removal of SO2 and HCl from gaseous emissions.
